This is Canine 110 signing in for night watchman duty. Tonight’s shift will involve routine surveillance measures. At 10:16 P.M., just as the human owners are falling asleep, I will bark hysterically at a squirrel threat located across the street. At approximately 2 A.M., I will whine and scratch at the back door: The humans will interpret this as a signal that I have to use the yard, whereas I will be sniffing around for signs of forced entry. At 6 A.M. sharp, I will enthusiastically jump on them to indicate the end of my shift.
